HISTORY OF THE NACCB
The organization known today as the NACCB began as the Software Consultants Broker's Association, which was founded in 1985 by several Northern California computer consultant businesses. The primary mission of the SCBA was to protect the computer consultant industry, which was being threatened by both state and federal legislation. This need was widely recognized and the association grew quickly to include chapters in Southern California, New England, the Midwest, New York, Houston, and Washington D.C.
In addition to experiencing tremendous growth in membership over the last decade, the NACCB has broadened its scope with regard to addressing and tackling issues relating to the overall operation of computer consulting businesses. The association continues to actively lobby legislative issues on behalf of the entire computer consultant industry, and to address various issues relevant to the industry while providing numerous benefits to association members. This national organization has grown to include almost 400 members who are dedicated to the NACCB's core mission. The NACCB now has a strong presence on the web, with 11 regional chapter sites, as well as a site for the national chapter.
Since the NACCB's beginning 18 years ago, the devotion of NACCB founders and members has been critical to the success of the organization. Today, this same individual enthusiasm and dedication remains just as strong, and is helping to propel the organization into the next decade as we tackle these important issues.
