L-1 VISA LOOPHOLE: Update and Request for Assistance
As you know, NACCB recently adopted a new policy position calling for closing the L-1 visa loophole. At Lobby Day, Members of Congress and their staff were extremely receptive to our newly adopted position. We have learned that senior officials responsible for immigration policy within the Bush Administration received telephone calls from Capitol Hill following our congressional meetings. We will be advancing our legislative proposal with key policymakers (a bill recently introduced by Rep. John Mica (R-FL) does not fully address the problem). To view the NACCB Position Paper please click here.
We have been informed that at least one key House Subcommittee may hold hearings in the near future on the L-1 visa issue. In advance of such a hearing, we need your help.
We need your assistance in identifying any evidence (witnesses or documentation) you may be aware of relating to the improper use of L-1 visas.
We would like to hear about specific circumstances relating to the improper use of L-1 visas. Further, any documentation of such incidents (such as an L-1 visa petitions, copies of the I-129S filed with the consulate or other documents) would be invaluable. If you have any information relating to the improper use of L-1 visas, please email Susan Donohoe (susan@naccb.org) or me (roberts@naccb.org) or call us at (703) 838-2050.
We would appreciate any assistance you can provide as we continue to press this important issue on Capitol Hill.
